Until my husband was given a book called 'Milk, Eggs, Vodka' as a present -- it's a whole fancy book of found shopping lists!. 1) I was outraged that Husband had been given the book and not ME -- he has no interest in found shopping lists and surely everyone knows that I do? 2) Seeing that someone else had taken finding shopping lists to new levels of commercialisation kind of took the novelty out of it. Is there anything on this planet that someone else isn't already doing, bigger, better and with tie-in t-shirts?

here's the website of the book guy: http://www.grocerylists.org/Jane Houshamhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00838867793630660837noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1805967105022667872.post-40318942733955142342010-11-19T14:11:23.099+00:002010-11-19T14:11:23.099+00:00Wonderful blog post! They're quite mundane, but a strangely intimate view of the life of a stranger.

The little objects and jewellery are wonderful. I can't believe you've found so many. And it's definitely not strange. There's a whole magazine devoted to found objects http://www.foundmagazine.com/.

I love small treasures, and I'm a bit sad that you found your old ones humdrum and shabby. But perhaps that's a sign of being healthy and adult and not a mad hoarder. I can't make up my mind. If we put all the junk in a gallery, like Tomoko Takahashi, then it's art. If we fill up our house with it, we become a case for social services...Kitsch and Curioushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13199950395051649169noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1805967105022667872.post-8609800120355613712010-11-07T16:09:16.270+00:002010-11-07T16:09:16.270+00:00Suppose we are defined by our belongings in the wa...Suppose we are defined by our belongings in the way that it says something about the choices we make. I would of course, never think of you as a strange person; rather someone who looks for beauty in unexpected places. And who treasures what most people don't even notice.

My pockets used to be filled with all kind of quirky things as a child; even dead flies (which I would later bury in matchboxes). For many years I had this little plastic panda in my pocket; it fell into my grandparents toilet and disappeared. It's strange how one rememberes all these little things, which didn't feel small at the time. And still doesn't, I suppose. Looks like you have a little bear there yourself?

Wonder what happend to all the other single earrings, maybe they are just waiting to be discovered somewhere. Lost photographs are always sad, so is the Sainsbury's leaflet.

Thank you for yet another great article, really enjoyed it!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
